SteelHounds Sign Birnstill

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Kevin Kaminski announced today the signing of defenseman Steve Birnstill. Per team policy terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Birnstill, 21 joins the Hounds after a successful collegiate career at Northeastern University. In four years with the Huskies he compiled 57 points on eight goals and 49 assists. Following his senior season in 2006-07 Birnstill appeared in five games with the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.

"Steve brings a complete game to our defensive unit", Kaminski said. "He handles the penalty kill and can also help us offensively. We're very pleased to add him to our roster."

The native of Commack, New York will be in uniform when the Hounds hit the road to take on the Corpus Christi Rayz on Saturday at 8:05 PM. They game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
