STEELHEADS: Game Day at Rapid City

January 8, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

Steel Reel!

The Steelheads and Rapid City Rush are back in action on Friday night at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center after Idaho took the series-opener on Wednesday night with a 6-1 win, the largest margin of victory for the Steelheads in a game this season. The Steelheads have won their first five meetings of the season with the Rush, including all four games at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The Rush have lost nine in a row heading into Friday night's contest.

Idaho scored two goals in each period on Wednesday while launching 52 shots on Rush goaltender Shane Owen. Jefferson Dahl scored twice and Joe Faust netted his third goal in four games. Daniel Tedesco got on the board with his first ECHL goal, while Henrik Samuelsson scored a goal and Connor Chatham notched a goal and a season-high eleven shots on goal. Philippe Desrosiers made 28 saves for his 12th win, second-most in the ECHL.

Four-for-Four...

Jefferson Dahl and Joe Faust both enjoyed four-point nights in the series opener, with Dahl netting two goals and two assists and Faust earning a goal and three assists. It was the first game this season in which any Steelhead had collected four points. Dahl extended his goal-scoring streak to four games, in which he has five goals and earned his third multi-goal game of the season. Faust now has points in four straight as well, with three goals and four assists. With another three-point night, Henrik Samuelsson also has points in four straight with three goals and nine points. Samuelsson has three three-point games this season.

Road Warriors...

The Steelheads look to extend a seven-game road winning streak on Friday, their longest such streak away from CenturyLink Arena since they won seven straight road games from February 20th to March 13th, 2015. The Steelheads have outscored opponents 30-15 during the streak, which stretches back to November 18th in Allen and includes four wins over the Rush. The Steelheads have played winning hockey at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for nearly a year, winning their last nine games in the Black Hills. Idaho's last road loss to the Rush came on December 28, 2016.

Red-Hot Rosie...

Philippe Desrosiers earned his 12th win of the season on Wednesday, already just eight wins shy of his best pro season in 2015-16 (ECHL and AHL combined) and currently ranked second in the league. Desrosiers has won eight of his last nine starts and held opponents to two goals or fewer in seven of them, giving up just one goal on three occasions during that run and boasting a .933 save percentage. Desrosiers has two ECHL shutouts on his resume, both coming at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center during the 2015-16 campaign.
