Gary Steelheads News Release

GARY, Indiana (December 13, 2005) - The Gary Steelheads return home to the Genesis Center Tuesday night for their first meeting with the Idaho Stampede this season. The Steelheads have a narrow hold on first place in the CBA's Eastern Conference, after a 124-123 loss at Rockford Sunday. Gary's league-leading road record fell to 3-2 on the season.

The Steelheads' rebounding woes continued against the Lightning, as Gary lost the battle of the boards for the 9th time in 11 games. Marlowe Currie paced the rebounding effort with 7, but Rockford grabbed 13 more carums for the game. The Steelheads made up for this shortcoming with superior outside shooting, hitting at a .517 clip from the field. Gary also forced 22 turnovers.

The Steelheads were paced by Jimmie "Snap" Hunter, who tossed in 39 points against the Lightning. He also had 5 steals. Eric Chatfield added 18 for Gary.

The Stampede, after a slow start, have pulled within a game of .500 on the season. They defeated the Michigan Mayhem in Muskegon Saturday night. Jermaine Boyette fired in 27 points, while David Jackson and Matt Freije added 19. Center Eric Chenowith registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Idaho has had to adjust to the loss of former CBA MVP, Josh Davis. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward was the second NBA call-up of the season, being tabbed by the Milwaukee Bucks one week ago Monday, December 5th.

Tickets are available for Thursday night's game through Ticketmaster, the Genesis Center Box Office or by calling the team office at (219) 882-4222. Game time is 7:05PM.
