Season Tickets on sale now to the public, All-Star Game included in all packages
GARY, Ind. (July 20, 2004) â Get ready for plenty of weekend fishing this winter. The Genesis Convention Center is ready to rumble come this fall when the Gary Steelheads begin this season's quest for a CBA championship.
The Steelheads' 2004-2005 schedule has plenty of weekend games scheduled with the family in mind. As they begin their fifth season, the Steelheads invite you to dock at the Genesis Convention Center for another exciting home schedule full of food, fun and All-Stars.
The Steelheads will play six Friday, seven Saturday night games and two Sunday afternoon games at the Genesis Convention Center. They will also play one Monday, three Tuesday, one Wednesday and four Thursday home games.
"Our fans want more Friday and Saturday night games and we give our fans what they want," Steelheads' Owner and Managing Partner Jewell G. Harris Sr. said. "We're excited about the schedule and our fans can again enjoy top-notch entertainment at low prices."
The 15 weekend games mean that it's even easier to enjoy top-notch professional basketball with your family, friends or colleagues. The weeknight games are also perfect for those "Business After Hours" meetings with your top clients. The Steelheads open the 2004-05 season at home against the Rockford Lightning on Saturday, November 20, at the Genesis Convention Center. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
"Season tickets are the lifeblood of the Steelheads franchise, and we expect strong support from fans all over the Region and Chicagoland," said Steelheads Director of Operations and Ticketing, Ryan Williams. "There are great seats still available in some sections and we encourage fans to secure their seats now to grab the best seats that are still available."
Another exciting addition to the Steelheads home schedule is the 2005 Infinity Pro Sports.com CBA All-Star Classic on January 18 and 19. The Classic is a two day event in which the best players in the CBA come to town to show their stuff. The first day consists of a practice, an autograph session for fans in attendance and is free to the public. Day two is the Three-Point Shootout, Dunk Contest, and the 21st All-Star Game. Tickets for day two of the Classic will start at only five dollars, however all All-Star festivities are included with all Steelheads season ticket packages at a discounted rate. National Media, several NBA and other professional scouts will also be in attendance to catch the best players in the CBA.
"Being unanimously voted as the host for the 2005 CBA All-Star Game is a credit to our entire organization and, most importantly, our fans who continue to support Steelheads Basketball," Steelheads Chief Operating Officer Jewell Harris Jr., Esq. said. "This event will generate national attention to the Steelheads and our corporate partners while providing fans with an opportunity to see the highest level of basketball in the world outside of the NBA."
The game will showcase not only the Steelheads and the Genesis Convention Center, but all of what Northwest Indiana has to offer.
"This is another big-time entertainment event that is coming to Northwest Indiana and we could not be happier for not only the Steelheads organization, but for all of Northwest Indiana," said James Tsismanakis, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "This is a great venue to showcase the various events that Northwest Indiana has to offer and the game is just another addition to our quality of life."
"The CBA All-Star Game coming to Gary and Northwest Indiana is indicative of the progress the Steelheads' franchise has made. As one of the only locally owned and operated financial institutions in Northwest Indiana -- particularly the City of Gary -- we are proud to support the Steelheads and their ongoing efforts in the Region," said Christopher Morrow, Chairman of the Board of Mercantile Bank. "Having a national event come to Northwest Indiana will have a positive impact on business all over the area."
The 2004 All-Star Classic was played in Yakima, WA. The CBA moves the game each year as to showcase its talent to different markets.
"The Steelheads organization has become one of the premiere franchises in the league since their inception before the 2000-2001 season," CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter said. "The Genesis Center is a great venue for basketball and their attendance has increased every year. We expect nothing less than a first-class show."
There is a season ticket plan for all budgets as season tickets start as low as $114. Season ticket holders enjoy the same seats for all 24 home games, the 2005 Infinity Pro Sports.com All-Star Game, as well as the playoffs. More benefits for season ticket holders include a discounted price on tickets, free parking, exclusive give-a-ways and team events, and a subscription to "Fish Tales", the Official Newsletter of the Gary Steelheads. The Steelheads drew their top two crowds in franchise history last season and enjoyed their best finish ever, so excitement for this season is growing.
"We'll have local and national entertainment acts at our games and it will be a family-friendly atmosphere," Harris said. "We also welcome our business clients to come and mix in some business with pleasure. What a better way to do so than having âIndiana's game' as the center stage."
Entertainment includes the Steelhearts, the team's official cheer and dance team. Be on the lookout for other top-notch entertainment acts, as well as fun contests and activities for all fans to enjoy during each game.
