Steeldogs Stay Unbeaten at Home

Birmingham, Ala. - The Alabama Steeldogs moved to 4-0 at home this season with a 53-51 victory over the Quad City Steamwheelers in front of 6,981 fans at the BJCC Arena.

The Steeldogs (4-2) held off a late offensive onslaught by the Steamwheelers (3-3) that saw Quad City outscore Alabama 26-13 in the final quarter. Steeldogs receivers Bradly Chavez and Jon Olinger scored crucial touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help Alabama keep the lead.

Olinger led Alabama with 10 catches for 102 yards and three scores. The Steamwheelers were led on offense by their quarterback, J.J. Raterink, who completed 23-of-33 passes for 288 yards and eight scores.

Steeldogs' quarterback Mitch Tanney continued his consistent play, completing 62.5 percent of his passes on the night. Tanney was 25-of-40 for 270 yards, five scores and no interceptions. He has thrown 24 touchdowns and only one interception in five starts this season.

The Steeldogs travel to Louisville next week on Saturday, May 19th to face the Fire (3-3) in a rematch from Week 4 of this season. Alabama won the first matchup 63-47 in the first game. The Steamwheelers return home next week to host the Everett Hawks (1-5) on Friday. May 18th.
