Chippewa Steel hosted the Fairbanks Ice Dogs for game 2 of the weekend series. The Steel topped the Ice dogs, 3-2.
The Steel carried their momentum from Friday night and netted the first goal of the game at 3:23 in the 2nd period. The first goal of the night was by Connor Szmul. The Ice dogs followed with a goal of their own by Grant Ledford at 7:10. The Steel countered with two goals. The first from Jacob Dirks, assisted by Josh Langford and Austin Mikesch. Tomas Vochozka followed up Dirks' goal with one of his own, assisted by Killian Kiecker-Olson and Fillip Dusek.
The Ice Dogs had a short-handed goal by Luke Ciolli at 4:46 in the 3rd period.
Goalie Josh Langford, of the Steel, led the team to a win tonight had 24 saves out 26 shots. In goal for the Ice Dogs, Riley Sims had 19 saves out of 22 shots. The 3 stars of tonight's game were Tomas Vochozka, Jacob Dirks, and Josh Langford.
The Steel are on the road next week at the Showcase Tournament in Blaine, MN. They will be back on home ice for Markquart Motars night on Saturday, September 29 against the Janesville Jets.
