February 1, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Chippewa Steel News Release

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI- The Chippewa Steel took the ice on Saturday night with the hopes of splitting a series with the Minnesota Wilderness.

Much like Friday night, the Wilderness were able to strike first with a quick shot shielded from Trent Burnham. A rough and tumble first period gave Chippewa two powerplay opportunities. Despite several scoring chances, the Steel were unable to find the back of the cage and trailed 1-0 heading into the second.

The Steel came alive to start the second period. Captain Isaac Moberg found his spot under the crossbar at 5:14 with assists coming from Connor McGrath and Jackson Decker. Shortly after, Grisha Gotovets finessed an impressive wrist shot for an extraordinary goal for the Steel. Gotovets' goal gave the Steel their first advantage of the night making it a 2-1 game at the end of two.

Both teams came out ready to fight for the third period. The Wilderness weren't ready to quit and added a late goal to the mix sending the game to overtime. In the final minutes of sudden death Steel captain Connor Szmul's breakaway goal was able to bring it home for a thrilling Steel victory with a final score of 3-2.

The Chippewa Steel will be back on the ice Thursday night against the Minnesota Magicians. Thursday night's promotion is $1 Beer night presented by Miller Lite and BOGO Adult Tickets presented by 92.9 the X. For tickets call715-861-2131 or visit chippewasteelhockey.com.
