
Steel Partner with SuperSeriesAAA to Host Steel Icebreaker Tournament

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel in conjunction with SuperSeriesAAA today announced the Steel Icebreaker tournament, an elite showcase that will include 42 teams from North America, facing off at rinks in Chicagoland including Fox Valley Ice Arena from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11, 2022.
The event will include the opportunity for all participating players, coaches and managers to attend the first home preseason game of the season for the Steel on Saturday, September 10 at 7:05 pm when the Steel take on the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Teams are registered in four divisions - 14U, 15U, 16U and 18U, with clubs from across the nation participating in the inaugural event. In addition to Fox Valley Ice Arena, games will take place at Barrington Ice Arena in Lake Barrington, Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills and Mt. Prospect Ice Arena in Mt. Prospect.
Play is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am on Friday and will conclude at 4:00 pm on Sunday. Admission is free for all games.
"Steve Dubinsky and the SuperSeriesAAA team have done a great job putting together the Steel Icebreaker Showcase," said Steel General Manager Mike Garman. "The showcase is packed with high level teams and most of the players have aspirations of playing junior, college, and pro hockey. This showcase is a great opportunity to share what it's like to play for the Chicago Steel in the USHL. We look forward to meeting all the teams, watching them compete, and having them attend our preseason game."
Since the organization's inception in 2010, SuperSeriesAAA has hosted hundreds of tournaments and showcases, with participants who have advanced in their individual careers to the USHL, NCAA and the NHL.
