Steel Embark on Alaska Road Trip

After a well-deserved break the Steel are on a 10-day trip to Alaska to face the Kenai River Brown Bears and Fairbanks Ice Dogs. First up, the Steel will take on the Kenai River Brown Bears for their first game action of 2019 with a weekend series.

Before heading into the winter break the Steel split a competitive series with the 3rd place Fairbanks Ice Dogs at home. The last time the Steel faced the Brown Bears they swept them in exciting series featuring a shootout game- winner by Killian Kiecker-Olson and masterful performance between the pipes by Goalie Josh Langford. Camden Thiesing leads the Steel with 21 points, 8 goals, and 12 assists. Jacob Dirks follows with 17 points, 8 goals, and 9 assists.

The Brown Bears currently hold the 5th spot in the Midwest Division. The last action for the Brown Bears before their winter break was a series split with the 2nd ranked Janesville Jets. Their top skaters are forward Zach Kranjnik with 24 points and defenseman Markuss Komuls with 21 points.

The Steel will return to the Chippewa Area Ice Arena on Saturday, January 26th for a 7:10 puck drop. Fans can purchase tickets in advance by calling the Steel office at 715-861-2131 or visiting chippewasteelhockey.com.
