Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

Rough Start: The Steamwheelers have gotten off to a rough start this season dropping their first two home games. This marks the second time the Quad City has lost two games to open a season. In 2003, the only other time that has happened, the Steamwheelers did not drop another game as they won 14 straight to close out the regular season.

Injury Update: Shonn Bell, who was taken to the hospital for precautionary x-rays after a hit late in the first half, will be sitting out this week. While his x-rays were negative and he is doing great, he did suffer a concussion and therefore will be held out of action. Sidney Lewis is fine and will be available this weekend if needed.

Great Debuts: Troy Graham (WR/DB) made his regular season debut with the Steamwheelers by leading the team in solo tackles (3) and tied for first in total tackles (4.5). Adrian Wilson (OL/DL) also made his Quad City debut in the loss to Green Bay. Wilson assisted on five tackles including two for a loss.

The Lightning: The Stockton Lightning is currently 0-2 in their inaugural year in the af2 dropping their first two games by a combined 11 points. This week will conclude the Lightning's three game road trip to open the season. The team is coached by Richard Davis, the fifth winningest coach in af2 history. He has made one Arena Cup appearance when he was the head coach of the Richmond Speed in 2001, when they lost to the Quad City Steamwheelers 55-51. The Lightning has ownership ties to the state of Illinois. The operator of the Lightning, Michael Reinsdorf, is the son of Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox.

Happy 20th: The game of Arena Football, which was invented by Jim Foster, celebrates its 20th anniversary this weekend. The first-ever Arena Football game was played in late April as a test game in Rockford, Ill. The success of that game spawned the Arena Football League and eventually the af2.

Upcoming Promotions: On April 22 vs. the Stockton Lightning the Steamwheelers will be hosting FCA Night. There will be a special pregame fellowship tailgate for local church groups and FCA members. In addition, April 22 is John Deere Night with the first 2,000 fans entering the gates receiving John Deere mini footballs. Following the game 2,500 Deck Mate evening gown posters will be handed out as fans come on the field for autographs. For group ticket information contact the Steamwheelers office at (563) 324-4888.

The Media Guide is On-line: The 2006 Quad City Steamwheelers Media Guide is currently available for free on the internet. Anyone who would like a copy of the media guide may download a .pdf by visiting www.steamwheelers.com and then clicking on Media Center. At the bottom of the page is a pdf version of the media guide.
