St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Steamers (8-3) will have a golden opportunity to cut into the Milwaukee Wave's (9-1) lead in the MISL standings this Friday when they take on the Wave at U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee at 7:05 pm (CDT). In the current standings, the Steamers trail the Wave by a game and a half, a win would put them only a half a game out.

The Steamers are coming off of a loss in their last game, a 6-4 loss in Chicago to the Storm. It was the first time the Steamers failed to score five goals in a game. Milwaukee avenged their first loss of the season on Saturday night (Jan. 7) with a 7-6 win in overtime over the Baltimore Blast. The Blast defeated the Wave just one night earlier in Milwaukee.

The last time these two teams met, the Wave took away an overtime thriller, 6-5 on December 3rd. In that game, the Steamers held a 4-1 lead in the third quarter before the Wave made their comeback. After Milwaukee tied the game in the fourth at four, Steamers forward Sunny Naumoski scored with only 44 seconds remaining in regulation for the 5-4 lead. But the Wave would tie it up off of a head ball by Giuliano Oliviero with one second remaining. Todd Dusosky scored the game winner in overtime, securing the home win for Milwaukee.

The next Steamers home game is Tuesday, January 24th at 7:35 pm.
