St. Louis Steamers News Release
ST. LOUIS - The MISL has informed the St. Louis Steamers that Head Coach, Omid Namazi, has been suspended for six games, or one fifth of the MISL schedule. He has been suspended following receiving a red card in the team's 6-5 overtime victory over the Philadelphia KiXX on Saturday, Jan. 7th. Per league rules, Namazi sat out Sunday's game against the Chicago Storm in Chicago because of the red card infraction, giving him five games remaining in the suspension.
Steamers CEO Michael Hetelson is filing an appeal with the MISL office for the suspension of coach Namazi. Omid apologized to the team for arguing with the game officials. After the 6-4 loss to Chicago, a team the Steamers had defeated twice without defeat earlier in the season, he realized how much his absence affected and hurt the team on the field. Namazi has stated that he never intentionally made improper physical contact with the game official and does not feel that he did. If the suspension is upheld or no decision is made, then Collinsville, IL native Joe Reiniger will coach the Milwaukee Wave game scheduled for Friday at 7:05 pm.
