St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - The MISL Championship Series is now set between the St. Louis Steamers and the Baltimore Blast. Game 1 of the series kicks off Friday, April 28th at 6:35pm (CDT) in Baltimore at the 1st Mariner Arena. The series will then move to Savvis Center in St. Louis on Sunday, April 30th at 12:05pm (CDT) for the final of the two matches. If the series is split after Game2, there will be a sudden death, "Golden Goal", immediately following Game 2 to decide the MISL Champion.

The Steamers went 3-3 against Baltimore in the regular season with each team winning all of their games at home. The final game on Sunday April 30th will be televised nationally via ESPN2. Tickets for the April 30th MISL Championship Series Final at the Savvis Center are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (314) 241-GOAL x1 or at Ticketmaster.com, the Savvis Center Box Office and all other Ticketmaster outlets.

The St. Louis Steamers finished up the regular season with a 23-7 record to clinch the regular season title and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Their road to the Championship Series started when they faced off against the Chicago Storm. The Steamers swept the Storm by defeating them soundly 7-1 in Game 1 April 15th at UIC Pavilion in Chicago and then defeated them once again 9-2 last Sunday night at Savvis Center.

The Blast earned their spot in the Championship Series by prevailing over the Milwaukee Wave. The Blast beat the Wave 10-4 at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore Saturday night (April 22nd) then Milwaukee came back on Sunday night in the U.S. Cellular Arena with a 10-8 victory sending the Semi-Final match into a "Golden Goal" sudden-death overtime. The first 15 minute period of overtime went scoreless. Then at 1:54 of the second "Golden Goal" period, Machel Milwood of the Baltimore Blast scored the game-winning goal.

This will be the second consecutive year Savvis Center will be hosting the MISL Championship. Last year, the MISL elected Savvis as a neutral site for the Finals. This year, the Steamers will try to use Savvis to their advantage as they posted a 14-1 record there during the regular season and were 1-0 in the Semi-Final round.
