St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Steamers (12-4) will be taking on their foe to the north, the Chicago Storm (7-9) on Saturday night at Savvis Center starting at 7:05 CDT. The Storm comes into the game having swept a home and home weekend series with the Philadelphia KiXX last week by the scores of 4-3 and 8-6. The Steamers split their schedule last weekend with a 12-7 loss at Baltimore Blast (Jan 28th) and a 5-1 win against the California Cougars (Jan. 29th).

The Steamers are putting their perfect 7-0 record in Savvis Center on the line in this game. They are the only remaining team in the MISL with a perfect home record. So far this season against Chicago in Savvis, the Steamers are 1-0 with an 8-4 victory. In that game, MISL All-Star Jamar Beasley was the offensive star for St. Louis scoring two goals while adding another two assists. Beasley leads the Steamers with 18 goals on the season. Another All-Star, goalkeeper Brett Phillips, was solid in net stopping 12 of the 16 shots he faced.

The last time these two teams played each other was on January 8th. The Strom came out ahead in a 6-4 final in UIC Pavilion on the campus of the University of Illinois - Chicago. The Steamers gave up three goals to Semir Mesanovich, all in the first half to fall behind. They never caught up and dropped their first game in eight tries at that point.

The Steamers currently reside in second place, a full game behind the Milwaukee Wave for first place coming into the weekend while Chicago is currently in fourth place, five and half games behind St. Louis. Milwaukee plays against the Baltimore Blast in 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore Saturday night. The Steamers play against the Wave next Sunday at 2:35 pm in Savvis Center.
