Steamers Sign Riley Swift

ST. LOUIS -St. Louis Steamers Team President Michael Hetelson, announced today that the team has signed goalkeeper Riley Swift and have placed goalkeeper Bob Graeff on injured reserve.

Swift, 27, was acquired in the sixth round, 38th overall, in the Monterrey/San Diego Dispersal Draft on January 5. He recorded an 0-3 record in 2003-04, appearing in 10 games. As the backup goalie for the Sockers in 2001, Swift posted a 1-2 record along with a 6.23 goals against average.

The 6-0, 185-pound goalkeeper played soccer in Hungary with Vasas for one season and two seasons for Mesa College. He also played for the Division III Riverside County Elite.

Graeff, 25, has appeared in two games for St. Louis this season, posting a 2.82 goals against average.

St. Louis will host the Milwaukee Wave this Saturday afternoon at Savvis Center. Game time is slated for 1:05 p.m. St. Louis will then travel to Kansas City on Friday, April 22 before concluding the regular season at Savvis Center the following evening versus Chicago.

The Steamers magic number for clinching an MISL playoff spot is two. Any combination of Steamers wins and Chicago losses that equal two will put St. Louis in postseason play.
