
Steamers sign Fernando "Tati" Errecalde

ST. LOUIS, March 24, 2005 -St. Louis Steamers Team President Michael Hetelson, announced today that the team has signed midfielder Fernando "Tati" Errecalde and have waived goalkeeper Chris Smith.
Errecalde, has played most recently for the AISL Windsor Border Start, leading them to the AISL Cup. He
played in five games for the Steamers last season, collecting six points (four goals, two assists).
The 5-6, 135-pound midfielder played part of one season (1996-97) with the Toronto Shooting Stars of the NPSL, and three seasons with the NPSL Detroit Rockers (1996-97 through 1998-99). He played youth soccer for the Independent club team in Buenos Aires from age 14 to 20 and was a member of the 1994-95 Argentine indoor national team.
The Tandil, Argentina native has amassed 55 career MISL points (26 goals, 29 assists) in 99 career games. He will wear jersey number 28.
Smith, 31, has appeared in six games for St. Louis this season, posting a 4-2 record along with 6.38 goals against average.
The St. Louis Steamers will host the expansion Chicago Storm and the Kansas City Comets on Friday and Saturday night at Savvis Center. St. Louis, (16-15) will take on the Chicago Storm (15-16) with the fourth and final MISL playoff spot on the line at 7:35 p.m. Friday night at Savvis Center.
St. Louis has posted a 2-2 record against the Storm this season, including an undefeated 2-0 mark at Savvis Center. St. Louis has tallied two power play goals in 10 attempts (20.0%) and have killed seven of nine penalties (77.7%) in the four games versus Chicago.
The Steamers will then turn around and host the Comets from Kansas City on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. St. Louis has tallied a 3-2 record versus the Comets this season, including a 1-1 record on home turf. Saturday night's game will be televised on WB-11 KPLR-TV.
The Steamers have dropped six of their previous seven games and look to get back on the winning track with three consecutive home matches. St. Louis is currently in the fourth and final MISL playoff spot and sit four games behind the league leading Milwaukee Wave.
