Steamers play two this weekend

December 1, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
St. Louis Steamers News Release

This week features what will be the first time this season the Steamers will play back-to-back games when they travel to Milwaukee to take on the Wave on Saturday only to turn around and take on the expansion California Cougars on Sunday at home. Saturday's match up will be the first time since the Steamers have taken on the Wave since Milwaukee eliminated them from the playoffs back on May 1, 2005 with a 6-5 defeat. The teams will meet five more times after Saturdays contest. Listen to the game on KFNS FANS 590 AM.

Sunday will mark the first ever meeting between the Steamers and the California Cougars. So far, California has had a tough time coming up with a victory as they are 0-4, but they will no doubt be ready to take on Omid Namazi's squad come Sunday evening. Matt Caution will be back in St. Louis for the first time since being picked up by the Cougars in the summer's expansion draft.

Good tickets are still available and can be purchased at Savvis Center Box Office or at any Ticketmaster outlet. Group tickets can be purchased through the Steamers office by calling 314-241-GOAL (4625).

Joltin' Joe:

St. Louis area native Joe Reiniger leads the Steamers in scoring after the first two games with four points including two goals. He also leads the team in shots so far with eight. Reiniger has played for two other professional indoor soccer teams in St. Louis and with his local ties, has become a very popular player with the club. After spending four seasons with the Milwaukee Wave, he returned to St. Louis in June of 2004. He has scored over 600 career goals and over 1400 career points.
