St. Louis Steamers To Hold Cheerleader Auditions

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Steamers are holding auditions for the 2005-06 cheerleading squad on Saturday, December 17 at St. Peters Academy of Dance, located at 93 Vantage Drive in St. Peters. Registration gets underway at 11:30 with auditions to follow.

Cheerleaders will get the opportunity to entertain thousands of fans at Savvis Center during each Steamers home game and will also make appearances in the community at promotional and charitable events throughout the season.

The 2005-06 Steamers Cheerleaders will be under the direction of Kathy Martinez, who has trained thousands of dancers and led dance teams in national competitions during her 25 years in the business. She started the St. Peters Academy of Dance in a strip mall and grew it into one of the area's premiere dance facilities, occupying a state-of-the-art 7,000 square foot freestanding building with over 400 students.

The Steamers cheerleading team will be made up of 16-20 members. To be eligible, participants must be 18 years of age or older as of December 17, 2005. In addition to appearing before the home crowds during the games, cheerleaders will participate in media events and interviews and will have the opportunity to participate in the annual St. Louis Steamers Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar.
