St. Louis Steamers News Release

The Steamers will try to extend their five-game winning streak when they host the Chicago Storm Thursday night (December 29) at 7:35 p.m. at Savvis Center. Thursday's contest will be the first visit by Chicago this season and it promises to be an exciting one. The Steamers have won five straight and will be looking to extend their winning streak. The rivalry between St. Louis and Chicago was an intense one last season and more of the same can be expected when the two teams collide at Savvis Thursday night. This will be the last Steamers home game for nearly a month. Following Thursday's match, the Steamers embark on a four-game road swing before returning home on January 24 to host Baltimore at 7:35 p.m.

Three Steamers have won Player of the Week honors from the MISL for the period of December 19-25, 2005. Brett Phillips has been named Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season, defender Mali Walton has captured the Defensive Player of the Week laurels and forward Shaun David has earned the Offensive Player of the Week award.

Shaun David scored three goals for the Steamers on their way to their fifth consecutive victory December 22. In their first visit to the new Stockton Arena, the Steamers defeated the California Cougars, 6-5. St. Louis improved to 6-2 on the season and moved to within 1½ games of the Milwaukee Wave.
