St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Steamers stayed undefeated at home this season and extended their overall winning streak to six games with an 8-4 win over the Chicago Storm. Jamar Beasley scored two goals and added two assists in the home victory.

The Storm jumped out in front early with goals from Novi Marojevic and Lazo Alavanja. Novi's goal was a restart goal that squirted past keeper Brett Phillips, the reigning MISL Goalkeeper of the Week. But the Steamers would tie it up before the quarter break with goals from Mike Apple and Beasley.

Half way into the second quarter, Sonny Naumoski beat Storm keeper Danny Waltman, from Beasley, to give St. Louis the lead. But less than two minutes later, Chicago would get a tally from Byron Alvarez to tie it up. But the Steamers rushed out to the lead into the half break with goals by Randy Soderman and Shaun David. Soderman scored a goal in his fourth consecutive game.

The second half saw tight defense by the Steamers as they held the Storm to only one goal, again by Alavanja. Sterling Wescott added some insurance in the fourth quarter to make it 6-4 and then Beasley and Jeff DiMaria each added goals against a sixth attacker to take home the win.

The Steamers move to only one game behind the league leading Milwaukee Wave. St. Louis takes the field next on January 7th at 6:05 pm against the Philadelphia KiXX in Philadelphia.
