
Steamers capture two weekly honors

ST. LOUIS, March 28, 2005 - The MISL announced today Steamers' Brett Phillips as Goalkeeper of the Week and Carlos "Chile" Farias as Offensive Player of the Week. Phillips posted back-to-back wins over the weekend to help St. Louis to an 18-15 record and Farias recorded seven points over the weekend (five goals, two assists) including a six-point (four goals, two assists) night on Saturday versus Kansas City.
Phillips went 2-0 over the weekend, making 21 saves in home victories over Chicago (6-4 on Friday) and Kansas City (9-6 on Saturday). With the wins, St. Louis (18-15) won consecutive games for the first time since February 2 and 4 and slipped past Cleveland (16-14) into third place in the MISL standings. The accomplished 36-year-old has been a fixture in net for the Steamers all season long, posting a 14-13 record and 4.75 goals against average. In his 14 wins, Phillips holds an impressive 4.03 GAA and .737 save percentage. He also earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors on November 8 and January 3.
Farias scored seven points (five goals, two assists) in his first two games at Savvis Center since being acquired from Baltimore on March 18. The 28-year-old playmaker tallied a goal in the Steamers' 6-4 win over Chicago on Friday, and scored four goals and six points (both of which tied MISL season highs) as St. Louis defeated the Kansas City Comets 9-6 on Saturday. Three of his weekend goals came on restarts. Farias, who has scored seven goals and 10 points in his first four games with the Steamers, is now second in the MISL in both points (51) and goals (29) and tied for fifth with 22 assists. The native of Santiago, Chile, also earned Offensive Player of the Week honors on December 6 and January 10.
St. Louis will be home on Saturday, April 2 when they play host to the Philadelphia Kixx at 7:05 p.m. before traveling to Chicago on Sunday, April 3 to take on the Storm at 7 p.m.
