Stealth vs. Birmingham Tonight

Houston Stealth News Release


The Houston Stealth (3-6) will attempt to improve its winning streak to three tonight at Autry Court versus the Birmingham Power (3-5). Game time is 8 o'clock.

Kelly and Coco Miller lead the Birmingham Power. Kelly leads the Power with a 19.5 points per game scoring average (2nd in the NWBL) while Coco is right behind her averaging 19.1 points per game (4th in the NWBL). Tiffany Travis (10.3 ppg) and Taquilla Allen (10.1 ppg) also average in double-figures for the Power.

Tonight's game will be the third meeting of the season between the Stealth and the Power. Houston won the first match-up 78-71 while Birmingham won the second 69-67. Each team won on its home court.

The Stealth is led in scoring by superstar forward Sheryl Swoopes' league-leading 22.8 points per game. Four other players average double figures for Houston: center Michelle Snow (20 ppg); guard Tamicha Jackson (14.6 ppg); forward Octavia Blue (12.5 ppg); and guard / forward Kelley Gibson (10.0 ppg).

The Houston Stealth is the defending National Women's Basketball League (Pro Cup) Champion. John Chancellor is the Stealth's head coach. John is coaching the Stealth for the second consecutive season. The Stealth will play its home games at Autry Court (8 games) and Hofheinz Pavilion (1 game) this season. Tickets are on sale at www.NWBL.com/stealth. The NWBL is in its third season with six teams expanding the United States. These teams play a twenty-game season from February 1 to April 13, 2003.
