
Stealth signs Tina Thompson

Houston Stealth head coach John Chancellor announced the team has signed forward Tina Thompson.
Tina Thompson (6'2, F, University of Southern California â97) was selected by the Houston Comets (1st overall) in the 1997 (inaugural) WNBA Draft. In six WNBA seasons, Tina has averaged 15.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during the regular season. Tina has played on 4 WNBA Championship teams with the Houston Comets; and, she has averaged 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds during six playoff seasons. Tina has played in all four WNBA All-Star Games. She was named the Most Valuable Player in the 2000 All-Star Game.
The Houston Stealth plays the Grand Rapids Blizzard, Monday, March 17, at Autry Court. Tip-off is at 8 0'clock.
Tina is expected to play in Monday's game versus the Blizzard.
"I'm excited to play in Houston," said Tina. "I'm looking forward to (helping the team win) a Pro Cup championship."
The Stealth's roster now consists of four Houston Comets players: Thompson, forward Sheryl Swoopes, guard / forward Kelley Gibson, and center Michelle Snow.
John Chancellor is in his second year as the Houston Stealth's head coach and the Stealth plays in the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL). The Houston Stealth is the defending NWBL (Pro Cup) Champion. The Stealth will play its home games at Autry Court (8 games) and Hofheinz Pavilion (1 game) this season. Tickets are on sale at www.NWBL.com/stealth. The NWBL is in its third season with six teams expanding the United States. These teams play a twenty-game season from February 1 to April 13, 2003.
