Wichita Stealth News Release

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth and the arenafootball2 league office have announced the road to ArenaCup2003. The Stealth will be moving from the Midwest Division of the National Conference into the West Division with the Bakersfield Blitz, Hawaiian Islanders, and the San Diego Riptide. The Stealth battled each of their new divisional foes once in 2002 and went 2-1 in the games. Three out of the four teams in the West Division for 2003 went to the ArenaCup 2002 playoffs (Bakersfield, San Diego, and Wichita).

Wichita will begin their 2003 season on the weekend of March 28-30 against the Arkansas Twisters at the Kansas Coliseum. These two teams faced each other twice in 2002 with Arkansas defeating the Stealth both times. Five of the ten teams that are on the slate for the Stealth in 2003 participated in the 2002 af2 playoffs (Arkansas, Bakersfield, Tennessee Valley, Tulsa, and San Diego). Among Wichita's sixteen games in 2003, six will be against their West Division opponents, three games against expansion teams (Green Bay Blizzard and the Cincinnati Swarm), four games against the Arkansas Twisters and the Tulsa Talons, a home contest against 2000 and 2001 af2 champion, the Quad City Steamwheelers, and road contests with the 2002 af2 champion Peoria Pirates and the Tennessee Valley Vipers. The Vipers have a regular season record of 37-11 (19-4 at home) in their three-year history with three playoff appearances and one ArenaCup championship game appearance (2000).

All home games are set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m., but times and dates are still subject to change. A detailed list of dates and times as well as a complete league schedule will be released in the near future.
