Stealth Drop Tough One to Spirit

The Houston Stealth began a grueling stretch of 4 games in 5 days with a tough 84 to 80 loss on the road versus the Springfield Spirit.

Springfield's Swin Cash was simply too much for the Stealth as she scored a game-high 31 points (8 for 10 from the field, including 4 for 5 on threes). Spirit guard Cindy Blodgett continued her solid play of late with 16 points (6 of 10 from the field). Forward Rebecca Lobo added a double-double (13 points and 13 rebounds) for the Spirit whose record improves to 11-3 with the victory.

Houston's record falls to 3-8 with the loss; however, Sheryl Swoopes scored 27 points (only 9 for 21 from the field) and pulled down 10 rebounds. Michelle Snow missed 11 more shots in tonight's game than she did in her first two games with the Stealth. Michelle was 7 for 20 from the field tonight (she only missed 2 shots, 21 for 23, in her first 2 games); however, she did grab 11 rebounds including 8 on the offensive glass. Guard Tamicha Jackson was the third Stealth player to score in double figures this evening. She scored 15 points (4 for 12 from the field); snared 6 rebounds; and dished out 4 assists.

Houston trailed Springfield 45 - 33 at halftime. The Spirit shot 52.9% (18 for 34) in the first half while the Stealth shot an icy 31.6% (12 for 38).

Houston's next game is Saturday, March 15, in Grand Rapids, MI, versus the Grand Rapids Blizzard. Then, the Stealth travel to Chicago for a Sunday game versus the Chicago Blaze. Houston returns home for a Monday night (March 17) game versus the Blizzard.
