San Jose Stealth News Release

SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth General Manager Johnny Mouradian announced today that the organization has acquired Forward Luke Wiles and Transition/Defensive Chad Thompson from Philadelphia in exchange for the rights to Mike Regan and a first round draft pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft.

The trade will bring two talented young players to a Stealth team looking to boost its offensive production.

Wiles, selected fourth overall in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, has posted 23 points (10 goals and 13 assists) in only nine games this season. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward had a strong summer for the Barrie Lakeshores of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Major League. He was fourth in the league in points with 74 which was more than current NLL stars Josh Sanderson and fellow first round draft pick Dan Carey.

Thompson, selected ninth overall in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, has posted 8 points (three goals and five assists) and collected 13 loose balls this season. Over the summer, in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior "A" League, he scored 55 points (26 goals and 29 assists) in 21 games for the Orillia Kings.

"Wiles will bring a strong presence to our offensive side," said Mouradian. "Thompson adds more offense and defense with his transition game. This trade makes us a stronger lacrosse club."

Regan has not played any games this season for the Stealth. He's fourth in franchise history with 201 points (128 goals and 73 assists).

To make room for the incoming players the Stealth released transition player Drew Virk and Curt Malawsky.

The Stealth will be in action this Saturday night in San Jose against the Edmonton Rush. The game takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the HP Pavilion at San Jose. Tickets are still available at Tickemaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations, by calling 409-999-5700, 408-998-TIXS, 510-625-TIXS or at the HP Pavilion box office.
