State Farm Teddy Toss Night Tonight

December 30, 2010 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Each year, the State Farm Teddy Toss is one of the most anticipated events on the MAINEiacs schedule as fans of the Blue & Orange are always there to support those that are less fortunate. All attendees are encouraged to bring as many Teddy Bears as possible. The custom is for fans to toss teddies after the MAINEiacs score their first goal of the game with the bears then being collected as a way to help brighten the lives of area children. If for some reason you forget to bring a teddy bear prior to entrance, students from the Geiger school will be present in the lobby offering bears in return for a small donation. The more bears...the better!

GAME PRIMER - MAINEiacs VS. TIGRES

Shorthanded MAINEiacs Get it Done- On Tuesday night, the MAINEiacs were without four players due to injuries or travel issues, leaving them with just 17 skaters, while also needing to call up a goaltender. Lewiston didn't seem phased by the adversity, as ten different players found the scoresheet, including seven with multi-point nights. Nicholas Champion held the fort in goal, making 22 saves for his 20th win of the season.

This Team can Score- With their seven goals on Tuesday night, the MAINEiacs have now lit the lamp at least five times in each of their last five games, posting a 4-1-0 record in that span. On the season, Lewiston has scored at least five goals on 14 different occasions, reaching eight goals twice, seven goals three times, and six goals twice. On the other side of the ice, the MAINEiacs have allowed five-or-more goals nine times.

Brodeur Joins Club 30- With his tally on Tuesday night, Etienne Brodeur became the first player in the QMJHL to score 30 goals this season. Later in the game, Brodeur added an assist, giving him 50 points as well. The next two players to reach the 30-goal plateau could come from the Tigres, as Philip-Michael Devos is in second place with 27, while Brandon Hynes is tied for third place with 25. Devos leads the league in assists (42) and points (69).

Welcome to Lewiston, Bryce- The newest member of the MAINEiacs will get to introduce himself to the home crowd tonight, as Bryce Milson will play in his first home game with the organization. Milson made his Lewiston debut on Tuesday night, picking up an assist on Francis Beauvillier's second goal of the contest. The assist gave the 17-year old his 11th point of the season, while he was also able to register a plus-1 rating in the win.

Playing in Pairs- The Lewiston MAINEiacs and Victoriaville Tigres are meeting up in pairs this season, as their six head-to-head tilts have each been separated into sets of two. The first set featured two games in Lewiston in October, with each team winning once (7-2 MAINEiacs & 4-2 Tigres). On Tuesday night, the MAINEiacs started the second set with a 7-1 win at Colisee Desjardins. That set will finish tonight. In mid-January, the two sides will conclude their season series with a pair of games in Victoriaville.

Head-to-Head- Tonight marks the 32nd all-time meeting between the MAINEiacs and Tigres. Thanks to a pair of wins this season, Lewiston is now one victory away from 20, as they currently hold a 19-12 lead over Victoriaville. Home cooking has been one of the keys to the MAINEiacs success in the historical series, as they have won 11 of the 16 games played at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
