-SPIKES LOOK FOR SERIES SWEEP: The State College Spikes look to take three games in a row from the team with the NYPL's best record today at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, as they face the Vermont Lake Monsters in the final game of a three-game set. State College is now 9-4 on the season at home.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes pounded out 20 hits, tying a Spikes team record, and dominated the Lake Monsters on their way to a 13-2 victory at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park last night. Matt Curry hit the first home run of his pro career, a solo shot to right in the seventh, and went 4-for-5 with four RBI. Kelson Brown also collected four hits, while Adalberto Santos went 3-for-4 with three RBI. The hit total tied the record set by the Spikes against Williamsport on August 8, 2008 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-WALDRON GETS THE START FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Tyler Waldron gets the call to the mound for State College today. Waldron has gone five innings in each of his last two starts, but took the loss last time out against Brooklyn on Thursday. The Oregon State alum was selected by the Pirates in the fifth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. Waldron has struck out 13 and walked just four in 17 innings of professional action.

-VERMONT SENDS McCATTY TO THE BUMP: Right-hander Shane McCatty, the son of former major league pitcher Steve McCatty, makes his third start and sixth overall appearance of the year today. McCatty went 2.1 scoreless innings in his last outing against Mahoning Valley on July 8th, and earned the win against Lowell on July 3rd with five scoreless frames. The Oxford, MI native was the 34th-round pick of the Nationals in the 2009 MLB Draft.

-DECKER EARNS NYPL HONORS: Right-hander Kevin Decker was named the NYPL Pitcher of the Week for July 5-11. Decker logged 10.1 scoreless innings on the week.
