-SPIKES LOOK TO KNOT SET WITH JAMMERS: The State College Spikes head into the second game of their three-game set agains the Pinckney Division-leading Jamestown Jammers, and will try to make Friday's game a rubber match. It is also the second game of a six-game homestand for the Spikes, who face Mahoning Valley from Saturday to Monday.

-LAST GAME: Kelson Brown's two-run double in the sixth inning put the State College Spikes ahead, but the Jamestown Jammers plated two runs themselves in the ninth to snatch the victory, 5-4, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park last night. The Jammers scored the tying run on Brent Keys's squeeze bunt single and the eventual game-winner on Danny Black's RBI single. Spikes pitchers struck out a season-high 13 Jammers.

-DODSON HEADS TO MOUND FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Zack Dodson looks to notch his third win of the year tonight when he faces the Jammers. The southpaw has faced Jamestown twice in 2010, allowed a total of five runs while striking out five in 6.2 innings. Dodson took the loss in his last outing, yielding three runs in 4.2 innings at Lowell last Wednesday.

-NEAL MAKES FIRST START TONIGHT: Jamestown will send right-hander Zachary Neal to the bump for his first career start in the New York-Penn League. Neal, called up from the Gulf Coast League Marlins a few days ago, went 1-0 in the GCL with an ERA of 0.84. Neal allowed just one earned run in 10.2 innings down in Jupiter.

-SPIKES MAKE MARK FOR PIRATES SYSTEM: Matt Curry, Adalberto Santos and Jhonathan Ramos each made the NYPL All-Star Game on Tuesday, bringing the Pirates' organizational total 23 All-Stars this summer, seventh-most among major league farm systems. Also, the Pirates system currently holds the seventh best winning percentage (.532) among all organizations (fourth-best among all National League teams).
