Huntsville Stars News Release

Huntsville, AL - Jacksonville, Florida will be invaded by the Huntsville Stars when the city hosts the Southern League All-Star Game on July 8th at the brand new Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Seven Stars players along with the entire coaching staff will appear in the Southern League's version of the midsummer classic.

JJ Hardy, Dave Krynzel, Corey Hart, Derek Lee, Mike Jones, Matt Parker and Luis Martinez will represent the Stars on the Western Division squad managed by Frank Kremblas and his staff: pitching coach Stan Kyles, hitting instructor Sandy Guerrero, trainer Greg Barajas and strength and conditioning Coach Jon Williams. The staff gets the honor by winning the first half division title, while the players are selected through a poll of the league.

The teams are chosen by Southern League Field Managers, General Managers, Radio Broadcasters and Media from each city. The Stars have more players in the all-star game than any other team. Eastern Division First-half Champion Carolina placed six on the East squad.

The Stars return home for Turn-Back-the-Clock night at Joe Davis Stadium on Sunday, June 29, at 6:05 p.m. The Stars and Barons will wear vintage jerseys. The Stars' uniforms are identical to those worn during the inaugural season of 1985, when Huntsville won its first championship. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game, and throwback prices will be in effect, including $1.00 general admission, $1.00 hot dogs and $1.00 programs.

Individual game tickets, season ticket packages, group outings, picnics and promotional opportunities are available for the remainder of the 2003 season. For further information, call the Stars office at (256) 882-2562.
