Stars name general manager/coach

September 11, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Los Angeles Aftershock News Release

Los Angeles, CA. Carl Harris, Owner/CEO, of the Los Angeles Stars professional basketball team scheduled to begin play in November today announced that Burrel Lee III has been named General Manager/Coach of the team. According to Harris, "Burrel brings with him a terrific background of ABA experience having worked for and under Steve Chase, President/GM of the Long Beach Jam for three years with the original Los Angeles Stars in 2001, the Southern California Surf in 2002 and the Long Beach Jam in 2003."

Lee added, "As everyone knows, Mr. Chase put together three great organizations both on and off the court and I had the good fortune of learning much about operations from him. There could be no better teacher. And of course, having the opportunity to learn from coaches like Paul Westhead, Scott Brooks, Earl Cureton and Corey Gaines was 'icing on the cake.' We're looking forward to having a great experience in the ABA and making Los Angeles proud of its ABA team. We hope to have a contender for the title this year - and will go head to head with the Long Beach Jam."

Lee has recently served as Assistant Coach at Taft High School in Woodland Hills under Head Coach Derrick Taylor, where the team won the 2004 CIF-City Section Championship and has coached at the AAU and Pro Am Level with the Hoopology Basketball Club. Lee concluded, "We will be adding people to our office and on-court staff immediately, announcing tryouts, venue and other information shortly."
