Traverse City North Stars News Release

FLINT - ‘Snakebit' doesn't even begin to describe the Traverse City North Stars' two-game swing through Flint this weekend. After outshooting the host Michigan Warriors by a 37-17 margin in a 4-0 loss on Friday night, the Stars once again peppered Michigan goalie Robert Tadazak to the tune of a 34-22 shot advantage on Saturday, but to little avail. Traverse City found a way past Tadazak just once in a 3-1 setback at Perani Arena.

"It was a way better effort tonight (than Friday)," assessed Stars head coach/GM Anthony Palumbo. "But right now we just can't seem to buy a goal. We threw pucks at the net all night long, and come away with very little. They get one off, it hits 12 different skates, and finds a way in. We just have to keep playing hard, keep putting pucks on net, and eventually it's going to be there."

After a scoreless first frame, the Warriors grabbed a 1-0 lead 6:32 into the second, but Eric Rivard (Traverse City, MI/TC North Stars) potted his fourth goal in the last five games just over a minute later to knot the contest. Michigan (10-7-1) registered what turned out to be the game-winner with 1:17 to go in the second period, and iced it on an insurance marker with 6:55 to play. Brennan Knoblock (Macomb, MI/Pickering OJHL) worked the visitors' net, stopping 19 shots.

"We played well and probably deserved better tonight," Palumbo added. "But right now, we're 0-4 in our last four games on the road in the division, and we had better find a way to win these games."

Traverse City (9-6-1) travels to Springfield next weekend for a pair of games with the Jr. Blues before returning home for a big three- game series against North Division-leading St. Louis on Nov. 19-21 at Centre ICE Arena. That series, dubbed ‘North Stars Never Forget,' will honor past and present members of the U.S. Military, with the Stars sporting special camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off. Proceeds benefit the Grand Traverse Area Veterans Memorial and Assistance Fund.
