The Calgary Stampeders have signed national offensive lineman Cam Thorn. The three-year veteran out of the University of Guelph had been eligible to become a free agent in February.

Thorn first signed with the Stamps in June after two seasons with the BC Lions. In his first season with Calgary, he appeared in 13 games and made three starts at centre and one at left guard. He was part of a Stamps offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the CFL in 2016 and helped Jerome Messam win the CFL rushing title. Thorn was also in uniform for the Western Final before missing the Grey Cup due to a knee injury.

"The past few seasons have proven that depth on the offensive line is critical and Cam's experience and versatility make him a valuable asset," said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. "I look forward to seeing him return to full health and compete in training camp."

Thorn has played 59 career regular-season games in the CFL as well as three playoff contests .

"After one season in Calgary, I quickly realized that this is a really good group of guys and a great organization and that's why I wanted to come back," said Thorn. "I love the family atmosphere with this team and that's what really sold me on remaining with the Stamps. And Calgary is a great city, too."
