OVERVIEW - The Lions come to town red hot having won 8 straight games ... while the Stamps haven't won in their last six games ... in last weeks contests the Stampeders where home to face the Ottawa Renegades while the Eskimos headed to B.C. to face the Lions ... in Calgary the Stamps lost an entertaining game to the Renegades as Quarterback Kerry Joseph led his team to a 26-24 victory ... in the fourth quarter Stampeders Kicker Clinton Greathouse hit a 51 yard field goal to put the Stamps ahead 24-23 ... only to be matched by Renegades Kicker Sandro Sciortino who hit a 53 yard field goal with just over a minute left in the game which would eventually be the winning score ... the Lions are coming off a thriller of their own as Eskimos Kicker Sean Fleming hit a 30-yard field goal put Edmonton ahead, 33-30 ... with one minute remaining, the Lions drove down the field to set up O'Mahony's 18-yard field goal as time expired to send the game into overtime ... in overtime Lions Kicker Duncan O'Mahony made a 34 yard field goal defeating the Eskimos 36-33 ... the Stampeders and Lions have faced each other on time this season ... back on August 21st the two teams faced off in an entertaining hard fought game ... in overtime Spurgeon Wynn, who replaced injured starter Casey Printers in the fourth quarter, set up the winning score with a 29-yard completion to Ryan Thelwell ... two plays later, Linscomb gave the Lions the lead ... the Stampeders could not respond on their possession ... as the Lions would go on to defeat the Stampeders 25-18 ... in that game Casey Printers would complete only 15 of 30 pass attempts for 259 yards, 2 interceptions and 1 touchdown ... if history is any indication look for Lions Receiver Geroy Simon to have a good game ... he has recorded over 100 yards in 4 of his last 5 games against the Stampeders ... his biggest game came in the last meeting between the clubs on August 21, 2004 ... he recorded 9 catches for 149 yards ... in 2004 Geroy leads the Lions in receiving having recorded 70 catches for 1314 yards and 11 touchdowns ... he currently sits number one in the league ... while the Stampeders are led by rookie Receiver Nik Lewis who has caught 55 passes for 805 yards and 6 touchdowns ... Nik currently sits sixth in the CFL ... this game should once again be a good test between Calgary's defence who sits on top many defensive categories and B.C.'s offence who remain number one in many offensive categories in the league.
ROSTER CHANGES â There are three rosters changes this week ... coming onto the roster this week is Running Backs Joffrey Reynolds and Ronnie Jenkins along with Offensive Lineman Taylor Robertson ... coming off the roster is Running Back Victor Ike, Offensive Lineman Travis Arnold and Receiver Darcey Levy.
LAST MEETING IN REGULAR SEASON â Eddie Linscomb scored on a one-yard run in overtime as the BC Lions extended their winning streak to five games with a 25-18 victory over the Calgary Stampeders ... Spurgeon Wynn, who replaced injured starter Casey Printers in the fourth quarter, set up the winning score with a 29-yard completion to Ryan Thelwell. Two plays later, Linscomb gave the Lions the lead. Linscomb also ran four yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and Geroy Simon had five catches for 109 yards for the surging Lions. Marcus Crandell threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Nikolas Lewis in the second quarter for Calgary.
