
Stampeders Sign Three

The Calgary Stampeders have signed three players - global defensive lineman Misiona Aiolupotea-Pei, national offensive lineman Carter Comeau and national linebacker/long snapper Ben Whiting.
All three players spent time on the Stampeders practice roster during the 2021 season.

Aiolupotea-Pei started the season on the Edmonton Elks' practice roster after being Edmonton's second-round selection in the 2021 global draft.
The New Zealander made six starts in 25 games over two seasons at Washington State, recording 29 tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble. He was invited to the Hula Bowl following his senior season.
Prior to suiting up for the Cougars, he played at Riverside City College in California.

Comeau played 19 games over three seasons (2018-19, 2021) at the University of Calgary and was part of the Dinos' Vanier Cup-winning team in 2019. During the 2019 regular season, Comeau was part of a Calgary offensive line that allowed just 14 sacks in eight games and helped the Dinos score an average of 30.8 points per game. In 2018, the Dinos scored 44.0 points in eight games and allowed just eight sacks.
Prior to attending the U of C, Comeau played junior football in B.C. with the Okanagan Sun.

Whiting attended training camp with the Stampeders and also spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2021. He was selected by the Montreal Alouettes in the seventh round (57th overall) of the 2019 CFL draft and he attended the Als' training camp in 2019 before returning to the University of Saskatchewan.
Whiting played 46 games for the Huskies, totaling 244 tackles including 15.5 tackles for loss, 12 pass breakups, three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception. Saskatchewan saw post-season action in four of Whiting's five seasons, including a Hardy Cup victory as Canada West champions in 2018.
