
Stampede takes the win on Bighorns' home court, 108-104

Reno- In an evenly matched game, it came down to free throw shooting at the end. Neither team leading by more than ten, the game was decided in the final minute. Stampede 108, Bighorns 104.
In a tight first quarter between the Stampede and the Bighorns, both teams scored 28 points. Bighorns' David Noel was perfect from the field going 4 of 4, including a 3 pointer, and was the leading scorer of the quarter. The Stampede's Lance Allred shot 80% from the field.
Jamaal Tatum from Idaho shot 90% from the field with 10 points and was the leading scorer of the 2nd quarter. Noel and Allred had 4 rebounds a piece keeping the game close. The Stampede took the lead with less than 5 minutes left in the half when Allred had an offensive put. The Stampede extended the lead to eight in the closing minutes of the first half, taking 58-50 lead into halftime.
Allred remained strong throughout the 3rd adding 10 more points to his total and 4 rebounds. The Bighorns took the lead with 6:27 left in the quarter, while holding the Stampede to only 36% from the field. Reno's Garry Hill-Thomas closed the quarter with a 17' bank jump shot with an assist from Russell Robinson making the score Bighorns 84, Stampede 79.
The game remained close throughout the 4th quarter. The Stampede took the lead with 10 minutes left in the quarter but was never able to pull away farther than 5 points. The Bighorns were able to cut the lead to one with 49 seconds left but the Stampede were able to maintain the lead going 4 of 6 from the free throw line in the closing seconds.
David Noel and Russell Robinson both had double-doubles. Robinson with 13 points and 12 assists. Noel was one rebound shy of back to back triple-doubles with a game high 24 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds. Lance Allred led the Stampede with 21 points and 18 rebounds.
The Bighorns will be hosted by Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, April 2nd at 7pm.
