Stampede Sweep Steel, Continue Road Swing This Weekend

The Sioux Falls Stampede extended their winning streak to five games with a weekend sweep of the Chicago Steel Friday and Saturday night. The Stampede defeated the Steel 5-3 on Friday and 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday. The Herd have won seven of their last eight games and are 9-2-0 since the winter break.

On Friday, David Solway had two goals while Corey Tropp had a goal and an assist and Drew Fisher added four assists in the victory. Matt Lundin stopped 28 shots for his seventh consecutive win in goal.

On Saturday night, the Stampede got goals from Zach Hansen, Nick Dineen and Dan Sexton in regulation while Zach Redmond and Tropp scored in the shootout to a 2-1 edge in the shootout. Max Strang stopped 29 shots to earn his seventh win of the season in goal.

The Stampede are now 19-13-2 on the year and will travel to Lincoln and Sioux City this Friday and Saturday night. Game times are 7:05 PM and you can catch both contests live on KELO-AM 1320 or online at keloam.com.

TIESLING COMMITS TO

BOWLING GREEN-

Stampede forward Patrick Tiesling announced Saturday that he has committed to Bowling Green State University for the 2007-08 season. While at Bowling Green, Tiesling will play with current teammate David Solway who also recently committed to Bowling Green.

Tiesling, who is in his second year with the Herd, has 11 points (3g, 8a) in 34 games this season. Last year, Tiesling recorded eight points (3g, 5a) while helping lead the Stampede to their first ever Anderson Cup Championship.

Bowling Green State University is located in Bowling Green, OH and are members of the CCHA. Former Stampede assistant coach Doug Schueller is currently an assistant with the Falcons.

Tiesling becomes the 12th Stampede player to commit to a Division I program this year. Since the Stampede began play in the USHL in 1999, they have placed over 80 players in Division I programs.

Drew Fisher recorded four assists in the Stampede's 5-3 win Friday night.

Nick Dineen has six points (3g, 3a) and is a +6 in his last five games.

The Herd posted 60 shots on goal Saturday night, tying a franchise record for most shots on goal in a game. The Stampede also recorded 60 at Ohio earlier this year.

The Stampede are 9-2-0 since the winter break and 19-8-1 since starting the season 0-5-1.

TROPP TO PARTICIPATE IN

USHL ALL-STAR GAME TOMORROW-

Stampede forward Corey Tropp will represent the Stampede tomorrow (Tuesday) at the 2007 USHL All-Star/Prospects game in Waterloo, IA.

Tropp is the Stampede's leading scorer with 40 points (16g, 24a) in 32 games in this season. The Stampede are 10-3-0 this season when Tropp records a goal.

OSHIE LEADS SIOUX PAST GOPHERS/

NODL KEEPS ROLLING

Former Stampede forward T.J. Oshie had a four point weekend for the Fighting Sioux in their upset sweep of the Gophers at Mariucci Arena. It marked the first time the Sioux have swept the Gophers in Minneapolis since the 1979-80 season. The Fighting Sioux topped Minnesota 5-3 Friday night and 7-3 Saturday night. The Gophers are 2-4-0 in their last six games while North Dakota is 8-1-1 since starting the season 7-10-1.

Andreas Nödl continued his hot play of late; recording three points (2g, 1a) for St. Cloud State Friday night in the Huskies 3-2 win at Denver. The Pioneers salvaged a split the following night, shutting down Nödl and the Huskies 2-0. Nödl leads the Huskies and the nation in freshman scoring with 36 points (14g, 22a). With North Dakota's sweep of the Gophers, SCSU pulled to within three points of first place Minnesota in the WCHA standings.

Dave Iannazzo is playing well overseas for the Cardiff Devils in the European Elite Professional League. Iannazzo has 30 points (16g, 14a) in 38 games for the Devils who are currently in fifth place with a 12-13-5 record. Iannazzo played for the Stampede from 1999 to 2001, posting 121 points (49g, 72a) in 112 career games.
