
Ice make bet with Gamblers for weekend series

WEEKEND RECAP: Indiana split a pair of games with the Des Moines Buccaneers last weekend. Friday: The Ice came out on top 5-3 in the contest with a career night coming from defenseman Eric Olimb who managed four points (2G, 2A). Garrett Roe contributed his 10th career three point night scoring a goal and giving out two helpers in the game. Saturday: Indiana was blanked 4-0 by Des Moines in the second game of the weekend series. Goalkeeper Alex Kangas did post 41 saves for the Ice, and Indy had an all-time team record of 130 penalty minutes in the game.
ALL-STAR WEEK: Forwards Garrett Roe and John Kemp, defenseman Mike Phillippi, and goaltender Alex Kangas will be traveling to Waterloo, IA Tuesday to play in the 2007 USHL Prospects/All Star Game. Roe and Kemp are leading the team in points with 40 and 39 respectively, while Phillippi leads all Ice defensemen with 27 points. Kangas will take his 2.94 GAA and .910 save percentage to Iowa for the game as well.
PACK THE HOUSE: Saturday is Indiana's annual "Pack the House Night" presented by Key Bank at Conseco Fieldhouse (7 p.m.). This year's event benefits the United Way of Central Indiana and their early literacy program, the "Imagination Library." The Ice is 1-1-0 in their two USHL years on "Pack the House" night with a loss in 2005 and a win in 2006. In 2005, Indiana lost 3-0 to Sioux City when current Bowling Green goaltender Jimmy Spratt shut out the Ice with a 28-save effort. The Ice rebounded with a 5-4 overtime win over Des Moines in '06 as John Kemp handed out four assists and Garrett Roe netted the game-winner just minutes into overtime.
EAZY-E: Defenseman Eric Olimb had a career night on Friday tying the Ice record for points by a defenseman with four previously set by Eddie Del Grosso on 10/22/05 and 1/21/06. It was his first multi-goal game of his career and third multi-point game while suited in an Ice uniform.
ICE NOTES: Mike Phillippi has five assists in his last five games and is tied for fifth in the league for scoring by a defenseman with 27....Ron Cramer has four points (2G, 2A) in his last three games....Garrett Roe has seven points (2G, 5A) in his last five contests....The Ice is 9-4-4 in one goal games this season.
ALUMNI UPDATE: Bowling Green's Todd McIlrath (2004-06) had a goal and an assist in Bowling Greens 2-2 tie with Alaska last weekend....Nebraska Omaha's Eddie Del Grosso (2004-06) handed out an assist in a 5-2 win against Northern Michigan last weekend...Cornell's Justin Milo (2005-06) scored a game winning goal against Colgate last weekend.
