Stampede Return Home this Weekend for Pre-Holiday Fun

The Sioux Falls Stampede will close out the unofficial first half of the season this weekend at home with games versus Sioux City and Cedar Rapids. After this weekend, the Herd will be on "Holiday Break" until December 28th when they travel to Des Moines.

This weekend's homestand presents an exciting challenge for the Herd who will be looking to down two of the best teams in the USHL in a rematch of this past weekend's action in Cedar Rapids and Sioux City.

On Friday, the Herd host I-29 rival Sioux City. The Musketeers rallied from a 3-0 first period deficit to defeat the Stampede 5-4 in a shootout Friday night in Sioux City. The Muskies are 16-4-0 on the season and one point behind Omaha for first place in the West Division. The Muskies have won 14 of their last 16 games, but three of their four losses have come on the road this season. Justin Brossman leads the team in scoring with 21 points (7g, 14a).

On Saturday, the Stampede will face the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for the second time in as many weeks. It is also Mueller Pallets "Stampede Player Cards #2" presented by KWSN-AM Radio. This is the second of four sets to be given away during the season. The RoughRiders are 14-5-1 on the season and in second place in the East Division. The Riders topped the Stampede 5-2 last Friday night in Cedar Rapids.

Game time for both games is 7:05 PM.

TEDDY BEAR TOSS/HOLIDAY SALE THIS FRIDAY!-

Friday night at the Sioux Falls Arena is "Teddy Bear Toss" night as the Stampede host the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05 PM. Avera McKennan/Orthopedic Institute and Results Radio are presenting sponsors.

Fans are asked to buy a NEW, UNWRAPPED TEDDY BEAR and bring it to the game on Friday night. Mark your section, row and seat number on the gift tag for your chance to win one of five (5) prizes!

In addition, the Stampede will be holding a "Holiday Sale" at the merchandise booth in the front lobby prior and during the game. The Sioux Falls Arena lobby will open at 5:45 PM so fans can shop early and bring their merchandise back to their vehicles before entering the arena doors at 6:15 PM.

Each shopper will draw for a special holiday discount between 20-50% off their total purchases!

HOLIDAY FAMILY FEAST TUESDAY NIGHT-

This Tuesday, December 11th, the Stampede along with the Sioux Falls Jaycees and Ruby Tuesday, will be holding a "Holiday Family Feast" to benefit Toys for Tots at both Ruby Tuesday Sioux Falls locations (2425 S. Shirley Ave. & 3308 E. 10th Street) from 5-7 PM.

Stampede players will be at both locations collecting New & Unwrapped Toys for the "Toys For Tots" program this holiday season as well as assist the wait staff and sign autographs.

With each toy donation, an adult or youth (13 or older) will receive any choice of main entrée for $4.01 and, in honor of KTWB 101.9-FM, children (12 and under) will receive the same for $1.01.

STAMPEDE PLAYERS SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER THIS WEEK-

Stampede players will be busy this week helping spread holiday cheer around the Sioux Empire. On Tuesday, the Stampede will be visiting Terry Redlin Elementary school, reading stories and visiting with four kindergarten classes. Tuesday night, players will be at Ruby Tuesday for the Holiday Feast.

On Wednesday, the players will visit the pediatric unit at Avera McKennan handing out toys and visiting with children who can't be home for the holidays.

On Thursday, the players along with Margaret and Jim Daniels from the Daniels Construction Company and Cold Stone Creamery will be on hand to visit the Volunteers of America "Head Start program", handing out presents, ice cream treats as well as reading and visiting 70 students at the school

The Head Start program is a comprehensive developmental program for children and their families. It provides educational, nutritional, health and social services to pre-school age children from limited income families.

Last week, Nick Dineen and Jake Drewiske visited two classes at the Citibank Family Center. The Stampede make numerous community visits throughout the course of the season.

SKATE WITH THE STAMPEDE ON NEW YEAR'S EVE!

Start your New Year's Eve celebration with the Stampede on Monday, December 31st as the Herd host the Des Moines Buccaneers at 7:05 PM!

Bring the kids, your skates, and join the Stampede after the game for the first McDonald's "Post-Game Skating Party" of the year!

Immediately following the game, up to ten (10) Stampede players will join the fans on ice for a 30-minute skating session. All remaining players will be available for an autograph session in front of the Stampede locker room.

Every fan participating in the Skating Party or Autograph session will receive FREE Stampede photo cards! Thanks to McDonald's of Sioux Falls and Brandon for sponsoring the event!

Please note that no skates can be rented at the Sioux Falls Arena, so please bring your own to the game.

KANGAS LEADS GOPHERS TO SPLIT WITH FIGHTING SIOUX

Former Stampede goaltender Alex Kangas stopped 22 of 25 shots in goal for the University of Minnesota in their 4-3 win over the University of North Dakota Saturday night in Grand Forks, earning a weekend split in the series.

"This was my first time here, and I enjoyed it," Kangas told the Minneapolis Star Tribune after the game. "The fans were great. They were heckling me all night. I kind of enjoyed that. It's good to shut them up, too, at the end."
