Stampede ready for Thursday's Draft

Stampede GM/Head Coach, Kevin Hartzell is in Sioux Falls and preparing for the 2005 USHL Entry Draft which will take place this Thursday starting at 10 AM. The Stampede own four of the first 25 picks in the draft, including two picks in the second round.

The order of the draft is based on regular season record and playoff seedings. The first three picks are reserved for teams that did not qualify for post-season play this year. The "Herd" own the #3 overall pick in this year's draft. The Des Moines Buccaneers have been awarded the #1 overall selection in the draft.

Prior to the draft, each team submits a protected list consisting of returning veteran players and players who were assigned to their team's futures list last year. Once that number is established, teams will draft until their roster reaches 23 players. Once each team is at 23 players, club's will begin selecting again until their list reaches 30 players.

Fans who wish to follow the draft live, can once again do so by visiting the USHL website. The draft will begin at 10 AM sharply and conclude will all teams have filled their 30-man roster. All players drafted by the Stampede will be invited to tryout camp June 2-5 at Ridder Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
