URBANDALE, IOWA - The Sioux Falls Stampede heads to Urbandale, Iowa Saturday for a USHL Western Conference matchup against the Des Moines Buccaneers.

The Herd comes into the weekend after splitting their two-game series at the USHL Fall Classic in Pittsburgh, Penn. last week. The team was able to make its first game of the regular season a positive one with a win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 5-2. Thursday's game didn't fall into the same column, with the Stampede losing 2-1 in overtime against the Tri-City Storm.

The Stampede has had a wide range of players add points to their stat lines in the first two games of the season. Three players, Egor Barabanov, Beckett Hendrickson and Chris Pelosi, all marked a goal and an assist in the USHL Fall Classic. Also marking two points each, off assists, were Jaksen Panzer and Kazimier Sobieski. Three more players earned goals and three earned single assists.

Last season, the Stampede went 3-1-2 against the Buccaneers in the six matchups. Both of the overtime losses ended with the Herd falling 3-2. Des Moines was unable to get into the win column during the Fall Classic, falling 7-2 to the Madison Capitols and 3-2 to the Fargo Force.

Following this weekend's road trip, the Herd comes home to Sioux Falls to kick off the home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 7 against the Waterloo Black Hawks. The team's home opener is set for 6:05 p.m. with a slurry of events and entertainment planned for both pregame and in-game. Included in this lineup is the jersey retirement of Thomas Vanek, a member of the Stampede's inaugural team and the team's leading scorer. The first 1,000 kids through the doors will also get a commemorative Thomas Vanek replica jersey to celebrate the event.

Tickets for the Stampede's entire home season are available through Ticketmaster, the Stampede Front Office, and the KELOLAND box office.
