Stampede Open Playoffs at Home this Wednesday

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede announced their first round playoff schedule against the Lincoln Stars today. The Herd will open their best-of-seven series at the Sioux Falls Arena on Wednesday, April 18th for Game 1 and Friday, April 20th for Game 2. Start times will be 7:05 PM. Individual tickets for both home games will go on sale Monday, April 16th at 11 AM at the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations.

The Stampede will then travel to Lincoln for Games 3, 4 and, if necessary, Game 5. Should their be a Game 6, the Stampede will then host the game in Sioux City, IA at the Tyson Events Center on Friday, April 27th because of a scheduling conflict with the Circus at the Sioux Falls Arena on that date.

"This is not an issue about the facility, this is just a scheduling snafu," stated Stampede owner and CEO Gary Weckwerth. "Sioux City has the same problem during the first week of the playoffs in their building, but they are able to work around the circus because they will start on the road." added Weckwerth.

Please note that because Game 6 will be played in Sioux City, IA, it is NOT included in the season ticket playoff package. Because the game is being played at a neutral site, the Stampede cannot accommodate those who have pre-purchased the playoff package. Fans will either be credited or refunded for those tickets. More information on the individual sale of Game 6 tickets will be made available soon.

"We had options to play Game 6 in Lincoln or in another city, but we felt the best location for our fans was in Sioux City," said Weckwerth. "We are however, very excited to be able to open the playoffs at the Sioux Falls Arena."

Series Notes:

Stampede posted a 4-3-0 record against Lincoln this season.

3-1-0 at Lincoln.

Outscored Lincoln, 23-21 in the series.

Corey Tropp posted nine points (3g, 6a) in seven games versus Lincoln. He was the Herd's top scorer during the regular season with 62 points (26g, 36a) in 54 games.

11 for 53 (20.7%) on the powerplay against the Stars.

Stampede went 20-12-4 against the West Division in the regular season.

Lincoln was 20-14-2 against the West Division.

Stampede are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. Lincoln is 6-4-0.

Stampede finished regular season with top penalty kill unit in the league (85.2%).

Lincoln second in the league on the powerplay (20.0%).

Matt Lundin ranked third amongst USHL goaltenders with a 24-14-5 record, a 2.55 GAA and .912 save percentage.

Jared Brown (30g, 41a) and Carter Camper (23g, 48a) finished fourth in USHL scoring with 71 points each.

Colby Cohen finished the regular season as the top scoring defenseman with 60 points (13g, 47a) in 53 games.
