Stampede Look to Begin a Winning Streak in Richmond

HARRISBURG, PA (May 21, 2014) - Coming off an exciting home win versus the Georgia Fire, the Stampede (3-4) look to continue their rebound into the playoff picture this weekend at the travel to face the Richmond Raiders (1-5). The Herd offense exploded last week for a season high 72 points, led by QB E.J. Nemeth (9 total TDs), WR Collis Martin (4 rec TDs), and Vidswap.com Special Teams Player of the Week K Cap Poklemba (12 points). The Stampede defense took the ball away three times last week (2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery), and looks to continue to get the ball back into Nemeth's hands.

The Richmond Raiders enter the weekend coming off a tough loss vs. the Trenton Freedom. After keeping the game close, the Raiders entered halftime down 24-21. The Freedom opened up the second half strong, and extended their lead to 17 points late in the fourth quarter. Two quick strike touchdowns by the Raiders closed the gap to 45-42 points with only 1:26 left to play in the game. After an unsuccessful onside kick by the Raiders, the Freedom offense was able to punch in the game sealing TD, ending the game in a 52-42 Raider loss.

Matchup to Watch :

In such a QB driven game, the team that can pressure the opposing signal caller and disrupt his timing will have a chance to win.

Harrisburg Stampede DL Amara Kamara recorded a PIFL high 4 sack versus the Raiders in the last meeting. He leads the league in sacks (7.0), and ranks 3 rd in tackles for loss (7.5).

Richmond Raiders DL Devin Jones ranks 5th in the PIFL in sacks (5.5) and 2 nd in tackles for loss (9.0).

The Stampede look to continue their explosive offensive production going into this weekend, in hopes of staying alive in the playoff picture. A win versus the Raiders will leave the team one game out of 2 nd place in the National Division, with three divisional games left to play.
