Stampede Express Signs Fan Favorite

The San Angelo Stampede Express has started the process of bringing players in for an exciting 2007 season. One more piece of the puzzle has now been set in place with the return of one of the most outstanding athletes to step foot on the turf in the San Angelo Coliseum. Fans of both the 2005 and 2006 seasons will remember the fancy footwork and guitar playing of this young man. The Stampede Express is proud to announce the return of # 1 Demont Burdine.

Demont Burdine is an Offensive Specialist from Southwestern College of Kansas. In the 2005 season, Demont led the team in scoring with 150 points on 25 touchdowns. He scored touchdowns three ways last season: rushing, receiving, and on kick-off returns. Burdine scored 14 touchdowns on the ground, 6 on pass receptions, and 5 on kick-off returns. Demont amassed 1,111 yards on 51 kick-off returns last season. He was among the top 10 in the N.I.F.L. in 2005 in kickoff return average, scoring, and all purpose yards. Burdine set individual game highs for San Angelo in 2005 in rushes, yards rushing, rushing touchdowns, longest rush, touchdown receptions, and longest kick-off return. He also tied the league mark in 2005 with 2 kick-off returns for touchdowns on May 8th 2005 against Odessa.

Demont was 2nd in the league in kick returns playing in only 10 games in the 2006 season due to injury. Demont averaged 20.4 yards per return totaling 891 yards on 43 kick returns. Demont was among the top ten in the league in 2006 in rushing yards, again only participating in 10 of the teams 14 games.

The Stampede Express will begin their 4th season in the spring of 2007, with 7 action packed games at the San Angelo Coliseum.
