Stampede Express Game Preview

April 7, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
San Angelo Stampede Express News Release

The Stampede Express are coming off an opening night win in which they defeated the Colorado Ice 48-47 in a back and forth battle. The Stampede Express are looking to keep things going as they face division rival Odessa Roughnecks this Saturday at the San Angelo Coliseum.

San Angelo enters this Saturday's game after a strong showing by first year IFL starting QB Trevor Scharer, who completed 68% of his passes for 219 yds and 4 TD's. Look for Scharer to again get off to a fast start looking for his favorite receivers Tavarres Williams and Antwan Courington who caught a combined 14 receptions for 157 yds and 4 TD's.

Defensively the Stampede Express look to continue to slow down the passing game with pressure from DE Jonathan Hamm (5.5 tackles, 3 for a loss and .5 sack) DE Clay Harrell (3 tackles, 3 for 12 yd loss 1.5 sacks and 1 INT.

The Odessa Roughnecks are coming off an ugly showing Monday night against the Abilene Ruff Riders losing 24-39. Odessa tallied game high 11 penalties for 77 yds. After falling to score on several red zone drives Odessa just could not seem to get their first win on the Season. Now they must travel to San Angelo to play a very composed and confident Stampede Express team this Sat night at 7 pm inside the San Angelo Coliseum.

San Angelo Stampede Express and Odessa Roughnecks faced off twice last season splitting the meetings 1-1.
