Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
The Sioux Falls Stampede announced their captains for the rest of the regular season and playoffs today. Veterans Pat Tiesling and Zach Redmond will serve as "Captains" while Stu Bickel and Jake Bauer will act as "Assistant Captains." The captains were determined by a vote amongst the Stampede players. The Herd have rotated their captains throughout the season.
Tiesling, a native of Rhinelander, WI, has compiled 17 points (6g, 11a) in 49 games this season with the Herd. Last year, Tiesling recorded eight points (3g, 5a) in 55 games and helped lead the Stampede to their first ever Anderson Cup championship and Clark Cup Finals appearance. Tiesling has been a consistent forward for the club and has already committed to play collegiate hockey next season at Bowling Green State University.
Redmond, a defenseman, has had a breakout season with the Herd, posting 33 points (5g, 28a) in 49 games. Three of Redmond's five goals have come on the powerplay. The Traverse City, MI native was also a member of last year's Anderson Cup championship team, recording 11 points (4g, 7a) in 48 games. Next season, Redmond will take his skills to Ferris State University where he will suite up with the Bulldogs.
Bickel is in his first season as a member of the Stampede. The Chanhassen, MN native served as team captain from the end of January until now. He leads the league in penalty minutes with 180 and has nine points (1g, 8a) in 47 games this season. Last year, Bickel split time between Green Bay (USHL) and Southern Minnesota (NAHL). He recorded 20 points (8g, 12a) in 38 games with the Express.
Bauer is in his second year with the Stampede and has been a steady blueliner for the team. The Dayton, MN native has accumulated 11 points (2g, 9a) in 46 games. Bauer was also a member of last year's Anderson Cup team while recording 21 points (4g, 17a) in 51 games. He has committed to play collegiate hockey next season at Quinnipiac University.
The Stampede return to action this weekend when they will play three games in three days. The Herd will travel to Omaha on Friday to face the Lancers at 7:05 PM before traveling to Des Moines to face the Buccaneers at 7:05 PM Saturday. The Stampede will play just their third home game of the month on Sunday when they host the Tri-City Storm at 4:05 PM at the Sioux Falls Arena.
