
Wagner signs with St. Louis Blues

KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League learned on Thursday that former Storm defenseman Steve Wagner (2002-04) has signed a professional contract with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League.
Wagner, who spent the past three seasons at Minnesota State University-Mankato, is expected to join St. Louis' American Hockey League affiliate in Peoria, Ill. prior to the end of the season.
This past season Wagner, 23, was a junior assistant captain for the Mavericks. He played in 38 games and registered 29 points including six goals and 23 assists. He was ranked 11th in the country among defenseman in scoring. He was also named to the All Western Collegiate Association Third Team.
During his time in Kearney, Wagner helped Tri-City win the Anderson Cup in 2003-04. His career Storm stats include 70 games played, three goals and 24 assists for 27 points.
