Saugerties Stallions News Release
Saugerties, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions (1-2) scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back en-route to a dominant 14-0 win over the Glens Falls Dragons (1-2).
Every Stallion reached base at least once as Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) led the way with 5 RBIs, including back-to-back home runs in the first and second innings.
The Dragons offense never came to life, as they had only 3 hits with a combined 12 strikeouts in the shutout loss.
Lane Miller (Indiana State) helped start the shutout with his dominance on the mound. He had four innings pitched and allowed only two hits with four strikeouts.
All 14 Stallions runs were scored in the first 4 innings
Dillon Liferi (Arkansas) notched Saugerties' first extra base hit of the season with a leadoff double in the first before Kelder knocked him in with a two-run home run, the Stallions first long ball of the season. Two batters later, Hayden Travinski (LSU) ripped a ball out to center for his first home run and put the Stallions up by four.
The Stallions would add one more in the second and two in the third before the flood gates opened in the fourth where a combined four hits and four walks led to a six-run inning.
Kyle Ofier (Bloomsburg State) and Mitchell Sanford (LSU) each knocked in two runs. Travinski would end up with a total of 3 with an RBI double that barely stayed in the park in the fourth.
Isaac Nunez was the lone Stallions without a base hit, however he did notch an RBI in the fourth with a bases loaded walk.
Timothy Panetta (Molloy College) struggled in his first start of the season, pitching only one inning and allowing five runs and four hits with no strikeouts.
