Saugerties, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions (19-16) tied the Albany Dutchmen (20-14) on three separate occasions before taking the lead for the only time all game in the 8th inning and never looked back en route to a 7-6 win on Friday night.
Billy Black (Columbia) made his sixth start of the season for the Stallions and was solid in his 6.0 innings of work. Black allowed three runs and four hits while also striking out four batters during his outing.
Albany scored one run in the 2nd , two runs in the 3rd , one run in the 7th and two runs in the 9th.
The Stallions countered with one run in the 2nd , one run in the 4th , one run in the 5th , one run in the seventh and taking the lead with three runs in the 8th .
Billy Price (Virginia) made his fifth start of the season and his second-straight against the Stallions. He allowed three runs, two of which were earned. He also added three strikeouts through 4.2 innings on the mound.
Defensive errors in the field helped lead to extra Stallion runs. Saugerties scored a total of seven runs, though only three of them were earned. Will Duff (Vanderbilt) recorded all three Dutchmen errors at shortstop.
Hayden Travinski (LSU) shined for Saugerties, as he went 4-5 with 3 RBI. The future Tiger now has seven hits over his last 11 at-bats, upping is average to .262.
Stallions Head Coach Collin Martin was ejected for the first time this season, getting tossed in the top of the seventh after arguing a controversial safe/out call on a Mike Handal (Fairfield) stolen base.
As the season starts to come to a close, the Stallions have now won two straight games and are within a game and a half of third-place Albany. Both teams will meet once more on July 31st , the final day of the regular season.
