Stallions Robbed at Shuttleworth

July 19, 2022 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) - Saugerties Stallions News Release

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - Stallions and Mohawks end the game tied up after 10 innings of hard-fought baseball.

Scoring began with a solo homerun from Amsterdam left-fielder Ian Petrutz followed by another two runs in the first inning.

Stallions would answer back in both the second and fourth innings with one run scored in both innings. JP Tighe would lead the second inning off with a walk and would later score after three different wild pitches. Mason Speaker would come around to score following an RBI single from Jahlani Rogers in the fourth inning.

The drama would begin to unfold in the fifth inning. Stallions got off to a hot start with a three-run opposite field blast from Kip Fougerousse scoring Jake Skrine and Easton Bertrand. Immediately following Kip, Mason Speaker would send a towering no-doubter over the left-field wall that was initially ruled a homerun. However, the Mohawks would appeal that Speaker missed first base during the homerun trot to which the infield umpire would agree. This call immediately sent head coach Collin Martin sprinting out of the Stallion dugout to have words with the umpire. It's advantageous that the Stallion broadcast team records all Stallion games as the team was able to dissect the call in real-time. As for the homerun trot, it is clear as day that Speaker actually used the first base bag almost like a trampoline during his trot in a celebratory fashion.

Not to be overlooked, James Reilly pitched 5.0 innings of relief work allowing one hit two walks and striking out three. Another incredible performance from the right-hander.

With the homerun taken off the board, the Stallions would end the inning tied up 5-5. This score line would go past regulation and into extra-innings.

JP Tighe would score Jake Skrine with an RBI single to put them back up 6-5 in the contest. However, the Mohawks would answer back in the bottom of the inning and the game would end there.

Stallions play host to the Booneville Baseball Club for a double header starting at 4:30 PM with game two following thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one.
